Blue Prince
Every closed door in Mt. Holly poses the same decision: what should be on the other side? Blue Prince builds a single-player mystery out of that choice, and every placement shapes the route toward the rumored Room 46.
Top 3 Reasons to Play
- Placement has rules. Where a room goes limits what it can be: corner spots accept only L-shapes and dead ends, while central spots take any shape.
- Each day wipes the house, yet permanent upgrades persist and clues gathered in one run pay off in another.
- An optional Dare Mode unlocks after Room 46 and adds four extra challenges, called Dares, to complete on a fresh save.
Story and Lore
Herbert S. Sinclair, the Baron of Mount Holly, has died, and his will names his great-nephew Simon P. Jones as heir on one condition: Simon must find Room 46, a room hidden somewhere in the estate that even the staff do not know about. If he cannot find it or prove he has, the inheritance lapses.
Sinclair built an elaborate scavenger hunt into the house before his death, and his legacy surfaces through letters, documents and keepsakes left around the manor. Behind the inheritance lies a local author of children's books who has vanished, along with a past of blackmail and political scheming.
Gameplay and Mechanics
Play begins in the Entrance Hall of a house laid out on a 9×5 grid. At each closed door the game draws three floor plans from the pool and the player picks one. A handful of resources governs what is possible.
- Steps: 50 at the start of each day, with one spent per room entered. Bedrooms, food and certain rooms restore some, and an upgrade can raise the daily total to 70.
- Keys open locked doors.
- Gems pay for special floor plans.
- Dice, such as the Ivory Dice, let the player redraw the three options.
When steps run out, the day ends: the Entrance Hall resets along with room placements and items, and only permanent upgrades carry over. There is no autosave mid-run. Bedrooms add steps, while red rooms tend to cost money or steps.
Puzzles are not handed over in order. Many require another room to be unlocked first, and items can be pressed into unexpected uses.
Characters and Factions
- Simon P. Jones: the playable protagonist and heir, seen in first person from the Entrance Hall onward.
- Herbert S. Sinclair: the late Baron of Mount Holly, who set up the challenge and whose letters and keepsakes fill the manor.
