Horizon: Zero Dawn is set in the post-apocalyptic future in which mankind is controlled by Machines – mysterious creatures with mechanical strength, organic features, and animalistic ferocity.  

The human species, unaware of their roots, gather in tribes, inhabiting the wild areas of the new world. Machines, which have evolved into intelligent animal-like creatures, roam the land ravaging villages and killing people.  

During the gameplay, the player personates Aloy, a young and stubborn outcast, who embarks on a journey trying to discover her origins and destiny while exploring the secrets of an ancient and forgotten civilization.  

A legend in the making  

Aloy is a young and courageous girl, rejected by her people since birth. Her only ally and companion is Rost, a rugged outcast who fostered Aloy in the wilds. Although he taught her how to survive in the new world without comfort and against all odds, he couldn’t answer the most important question of hers – who she really is, who were her parents, and why she was cast out.  

Horizon: Zero Dawn is set in an open world, with vast and diverse lands, wilderness, camps, villages, and the ruins of an ancient civilization. Although this world is immensely dangerous and full of deadly Machines, Aloy’s combat is remarkable, and, being equipped with weapons made out of the defeated enemy, she fearlessly explores the land and herself.
