In Umbraclaw, the story of Kuon — a house cat that passed away in this life—is told from her point of view as she awakens in the afterlife on Soulplane. In this 2D action adventure, she has to overcome the dangerous underground to get back to her owner's house.

As she looks for a means to cross the "Boundary" and go back to her own world, the player takes control of the cat Kuon. For a simple house cat, the hazardous terrain and terrifying foes of the Soulplane provide an almost unsurmountable struggle.

The small cat is instantly fatally wounded by a single blow. Nevertheless, it also represents a fresh opportunity because Kuon may "Anima Revive" her and give her a new ability each time, enabling her to get through the previous challenge.
