About the base game:

Why you should buy Middle-earth: Shadow of War

  • You’ve already played Shadow of Mordor,
  • You love Tolkien’s books,
  • You are looking for an RPG with exciting combat and an open world.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War

The second installment to the bestselling Shadow of Mordor, Shadow of War, once more takes you to the lands of Sauron, where Talion and Celebrimbor continue their fight for power. As they crafted a new Ring of Power, they want to amass a new army to put an end to Sauron’s rule. Loosely based on events between Tolkien’s The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, Shadow of War is an epic journey every RPG fan should embark on.

A new Ring of Power

With a new Ring come the new responsibilities. Middle-earth: Shadow of War introduces updated skills and new additions to the iconic Nemesis System. Successfully defeating bosses influences the behavior of the remaining ones. For instance, weaker orcs will be easier to mind control after the player defeats a large number of enemies. The game brings some refreshments to the combat system and fun additions such as riding drakes. The map is larger and richer in important spots as well.

Meet the iconic characters

Middle-earth: Shadow of War lets you see some of the most important characters in the legendarium: Witch-king of Angmar, Galadriel, Isildur, or Shelob. Event Though the game tells an alternate story and the lore went through major changes, Shadow of War’s narrative is a fascinating one, regardless of what your level of familiarity with the original world is.

PROS:Orc variety and personalities are fun and engagingCapturing fortresses feels satisfyingVoice acting is done well (but with Troy Baker, what else did you expect?)Music is fun and diverseEnvironmental graphics are gorgeous5 different map locations with dramatically different environmental aesthetics (snow, lava, forest, ruins, etc.)You can ride drakes now, which is the ONLY way to travel!Armor actually looks really cool if you take the time to level it upCONS:Target priority in combat is **** (no, I did NOT want to perform my Dominate ability on the archer behind the Captain I need for my army!)Parkour is so buggyThis game takes a dump multiple times on the established lore of Middle-Earth, especially with Shelob (as a hardcore LotR nerd, this **** me off to no end)Story is very dull, and you can see almost every twist coming from a mile awayDefending your fortresses is such a drag

I bought this expansion pass some time ago and in overall it's fine. the Pros are the new orc Tribes for the nemesis system the Slaughter and the Outlaws each of them are unique, and have interesting personas like my Chief olog from the Slaughter tribe he's so adorable when he says yummy when ripping of heads of foe orcs. Mini campaigns are ok, but a bit dull and simple in mechanics (especially the Blade of Galadriel. which has a good story but mechanics are very lame and boring, Desolation is better in those ways, but can be frustrating in his rouge like mechanic), So it was a good buy for me in overall and i'm very satisfied
