The Gothic 1 Remake revives a classic action role-playing game. You'll follow the story of the Nameless Hero, a prisoner sent to mine magical ore for King Rhobar II. Embark on an unforgettable adventure and reshape the colony's balance of power.

A world that lives

In Gothic 1 Remake, you'll be thrown into a living, open world that reacts to your every move. It's a fantasy setting, but you're a mere prisoner, not a mighty magician or valiant knight. You've been exiled to a mining colony, sealed off from the outside world by a magical barrier. But something has gone terribly wrong. The enchanted wall isolated the entire valley and allowed the convicts to rise up. They've seized control, splitting the territory into three competing factions:

• The Old Camp
• The New Camp
• The Sect Camp.

Players can join any camp, but be warned: your choices will shape the story and determine your fate.

A new version of the classic

Your journey into the Valley of Mines will not be simple. To survive, you must upgrade your skills and face numerous threats, from monstrous beasts to hostile inmates. The Gothic 1 Remake introduces a modernized combat system, designed to be accessible to newcomers while still feeling familiar to long-time fans. The visuals have also been completely overhauled. Powered by Unreal Engine 5, the open world of the Valley of Mines is not only brimming with life but is also more beautiful and immersive than ever before.

Release and platforms

The remake of the 2001 classic from Piranha Bytes was developed by Alkimia Interactive and published by THQ Nordic. The game was scheduled for release in 2025, but the developer announced that it will come out on June 5, 2026. Gothic 1 Remake is available on PC, Xbox Series S|X, and PlayStation 5.
