Silent Hill 2 is a remake of an iconic survival horror. Like its 2001 predecessor, the new version follows the story of James Sunderland. His journey begins with a haunting letter from his deceased wife, Mary, urging him to meet her in the mysterious town of Silent Hill. Drawn by the hope of reuniting with her, James arrives only to find the town transformed into a nightmarish realm teeming with monsters. As he searches for Mary, James uncovers the town’s dark secrets and encounters enigmatic characters, including Maria, who bears an uncanny resemblance to his late wife.

A Bloober Team masterpiece

The original Silent Hill 2 was created by Team Silent at Konami. This time, the Japanese giant let an outside developer face the legendary title. Konami partnered with Bloober Team, a studio renowned for psychological horrors, including Layers of Fear, Observer, Blair Witch, and The Medium. Their expertise made the Polish studio perfect to honor one of the most iconic horror games in history. To preserve the essence of the original, the remake brings back two key figures: Masahiro Ito, the renowned art director and monster designer, and Akira Yamaoka, the legendary composer. 

Release and platforms

The original Silent Hill 2 was released in 2001, while its remake came out on October 8, 2024, on PlayStation 5 and PC. The Xbox Series S|X version followed on November 21, 2025.
