The iconic Grand Theft Auto series was first introduced in 1997 by the creators, David Jones and Mike Dailly, and is primarily developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. Today, the series consists of 7 standalone titles, 4 expansion packs, and in 2013 it was ranked among the most successful British exports by The Telegraph!
The name of the series comes from the term used in the USA for motor vehicle theft - “grand theft auto.” In this action-adventure game, the player takes on the role of an American criminal, who has to complete missions, which essentially consist of driving and shooting, with occasional elements of role-playing and stealth. The GTA series is set in different points in time between the 1960s and 2010s in fictional cities inspired by real-life American ones, like San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles.
To the delight of the fans, a Remastered version of the Grand Theft Auto trilogy has been announced, with the Unreal Engine remasters of GTA III, GTA Vice City, and GTA San Andreas. Rumor has it that each game will receive new trophies and achievements:
In the obscure and ruthless underground of Liberty City, a remorseless outlaw roams the streets. The massive, open world enables you to explore the city while robbing vulnerable citizens along the way. The brutal and absorbing world of crime is within your reach if you only dare to join it. The game offers a wide range of unlicensed vehicles with unique features, such as the bulletproof Patriot. To fight with the enemy players can choose between diverse types of weapons, depending on the situation they found themselves in. Complete your missions, escape the police, and find out whether crime pays out.
Vice City in the 80s is nothing like the cliche this era is best known for - the wide-leg pants and big afros. This rotten to the bone city, filled with murder and corruption is the perfect place to start your criminal career. Taking the role of Tommy Vercetti, a former convict, you go back to the gangster world and your old boss, Sonny Forelli. However, Tommy gets set up and is now taking his revenge, fighting Cuban biker gangs and corrupt politicians, and making his way to the top of the criminal world. During several missions, you roam the city stealing cars, robbing and killing enemies, and submitting important deliveries.
During the gameplay, we can move around using cars, motorcycles, motorboats, or helicopters. However, it is believed that in the remastered version of the game, we may expect the addition of bicycles.
After a few years spent in Los Santos, Carl Johnson, also known as CJ, comes back to his childhood home, San Andreas. However, the neighborhood is not as he remembered it - it is now torn by murder, drugs, and corruption. Moreover, the strained relationship with his family has worsened after his mother’s death. Now, being framed into murder by corrupted police, Carl has to run across the state of San Andreas to save his family and take charge on the streets.
The player can freely move between three cities of San Andreas: Los Santos, San Fierro, and Las Venturas. The game also includes the feature of joint car rides of the gang, which enables you to get into fierce fights with other rings of gangsters.
It is speculated that a Bigfoot, a mythical primate, will make it into the game’s remaster.
MATUREContent is generally suitable for persons ages 17 and up. May contain intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content and/or strong language.
