About the base game:

Dragon's Dogma 2 is going to retain the core gameplay elements of the original game, such as its unique pawn system, real-time combat, and expansive open world. However, the sequel is also expected to introduce new gameplay mechanics and features. 

Pawn system

During battles, you will have AI-controlled characters called pawns by your side. Whether human or beastren, your Arisen will lead a party consisting of up to three unique pawns on the journey. The main pawn, who is always by your side, can be customized by players.
