Game is similar to AoW3, but the differences are more than first glance suggests and the game is much better for it.<br><br>The combat and unit depth are where the game especially shines. AoW3 was poor in this regard - even after updates improved racial diversity, the differences between races were comparatively minor and you broadly played similarly no matter what you were running. In planetfall, every race plays combat completely differently, with a host of different synergies, advantages and weaknesses - expanded further by secret tech and mod selection. I get the same kind of satisfaction exploring a certain playstyle in planetfall as I would e.g. playing a different faction in a card game, and that's something 3 never really offered me.<br><br>I'm having more fun with the campaign in planetfall.

This is a decent sci-fi turn based strategy game. I find myself coming back to it because it has a bit of a Civilization feel with a "light" TotalWar tactical experience. The campaign story line leaves a lot to be desired but the replay value of the planet warfare more than makes up for it. Game is solid thumbs up.<br>

This game like has its own flaws compared to AoW 3 but it improved a lot of stuff from previous game. Sector system is great, unit mods add an additional depth to the game, tier 3 & tier 4 units are no longer spammable that easy. Overall, the devs just need to continue updating the game with bug fixes and QoL stuff.
