The October 2022 game releases we’re waiting for

News 07/10/2022

Gamers couldn’t have dreamed of a better start to this year. In January and February, we received God of War (PC), Horizon Forbidden West, Elden Ring, Total War: Warhammer III, and many more exciting releases. Unfortunately, delays and postponements marked the next few months. Now everything seems to be on the right track again, as this month is full of premieres. Here is the list of the October game releases we’re waiting for the most.

Dragon Ball: The Breakers

There are multiple games based on the Dragon Ball series, but virtually all of them are fighting games. Dragon Ball: The Breakers offers something different as it is an online asymmetrical survival game. One player will become a Raider and control a powerful character such as Cell, Frieza, or Buu, while the others are regular citizens. They have to cooperate to survive and break free. However, this task becomes more and more difficult as the Raider, who’s hunting them, evolves and gets stronger every minute.

According to the developers, there will be different progression paths and unlockables, including perks and skins. Dragon Ball: The Breakers will be released on October 10, 2022. It will be available on the following platforms: the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. We hope the final game will be free from bugs and other flaws that players complained about during the Dragon Ball: The Breakers beta test.

NHL 23

NHL is one of EA Sports’ longest-running series. The first installment in the franchise was NHL Hockey, which premiered in 1991. Since then, the series has tried to simulate the game of hockey as accurately as possible. In pursuit of this goal, the series introduces many new plays and animations. For instance, in NHL 23, players can play the puck even when they have been tripped or hit. Mixed teams in the Hockey Ultimate Team is another new feature.

NBA 2K23 review. Let’s talk about its cover, prices, and more

NHL 23 will be released on October 14, 2022, for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. The cover stars of the game are Trevor Zegras and Sarah Nurse. NHL will support same-gen crossplay. The bad news is that the series is not coming back to Windows, so there won’t be NHL 23 for PC. The Nintendo Switch version is also not happening.

Scorn is another game that will be released on October 14, 2022. The visual side of this horror game was inspired by the works of Zdzisław Beksiński and H. R. Giger. As a result, we will discover a bizarre and twisted nightmare-like universe. Each of the game’s regions will have its own unique story and puzzles.

Another interesting thing is that you won’t have enough resources to fight every enemy you’ll meet. As a result, you’ll have to decide when to draw your weapon and when to try to sneak past adversaries. Scorn will be released for the PC and Xbox Series X|S.

A Plague Tale: Requiem

The long-awaited sequel to the universally acclaimed A Plague Tale: Innocence is finally coming out. Requiem’s story begins six months after the events shown in the first game and takes us to Southern France. Once again, we will follow the story of Amicia and Hugo de Rune, who are hiding from agents of the Inquisition and trying to cure Hugo’s mystery disease.

The A Plague Tale: Requiem release date is October 18. It will be playable on Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. We believe it will be another gem for everyone who appreciates a compelling story and prefers sneaking mechanics to frontal attacks.

Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed

2009’s Ghostbusters: The Video Game is an outstanding yet relatively unknown title. We hope that Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed will be at least as good as the game that used the likeness of the original Ghostbusters. Especially since we’ll meet half of them again as Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson reprise their roles as Ray Stantz and Winston Zeddemore.

However, the new game takes a significantly different approach to the action-adventure genre. Instead of being a story-driven game, it allows us to participate in asymmetrical ghost vs. four hunters battles. If you prefer to play alone, don’t worry because Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed offers both multiplayer and solo modes. Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed will be released on October 10. It’s coming to almost all the most popular platforms: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Microsoft Windows. Moreover, it will support crossplay between them all.

Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection

Nathan Drake is another iconic PlayStation character that finally travels to the PC world. The Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection will be released on October 19, 2022. It will allow PC players to play the last two entries in the Uncharted series: Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is the last (so far) game in the series that lets us play as Nathan Drake. The game, divided into 24 chapters (including a prologue and epilogue), takes us to many beautiful locations, including Panama, Colombia, Scotland, and Madagascar. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy introduces a new protagonist called Chloe Frazer. Both games included in the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection received very high scores from critics and players alike. If Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy are as well optimized as the PC ports of God of War and Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, we will have another bestseller.

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope

This month is going to be great for Switch players too. The Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle will be released on October 20 and, like its predecessor, will be a Switch exclusive. It’s a crossover between the Mario and Rabbids series; hence, in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, we’ll meet characters from both franchises. It’s a must-have for all Nintendo Switch players who enjoy turn-based combat.

Remember that you can buy Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope and other Switch games in the official Nintendo shop using gift cards that you can get on GAMIVO at the best price.

Gotham Knights

After a few delays, the Gotham Knights video game is finally on its way to our computers and consoles. This action RPG lets us play as members of the Batfamily: Batgirl, Red Hood, Nightwing, and Robin. They must take care of Gotham and face supervillains after Batman’s disappearance. Each of the characters offers a slightly different playing style. You can play the story mode solo or in a two-player co-op mode.

Gotham Knights: Release date and other things you want to know

Gotham Knights was initially intended to release in 2021. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the game was delayed, so it’s finally coming out on October 21, 2022. It will be available on PC and next-gen consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series S|X). It’s worth mentioning that the Gotham Knights game is not related to the CW TV show of the same name.

Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord

Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord is a Mount & Blade: Warband prequel, so it’s a mix of multiple genres: strategy, action, and RPG. It was initially released in early access and became an instant hit, receiving very positive reviews. The final version of Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord will be released on October 25 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord offers a single-player open-world campaign that will let you control your custom character and take part in battles of epic proportions. There’s also a vast range of multiplayer modes if you want to test your skills against other players.

Victoria 3

All the grand strategy fans are counting down to October 25. Victoria is a series developed and published by Paradox. The first entry in the franchise, Victoria: An Empire Under the Sun, was released in 2003. Its sequel hit the shelves seven years later, and after 12 years of waiting, we’re finally getting the third installment. Victoria 3 will be released on October 25, 2022.

Victoria 3 will let players lead their nations for a century, starting in 1836. The game will be available on Windows, macOS, and Linux. As far as we know, Victoria 3 won’t be included in Game Pass. If you want to learn more about the upcoming release and its development, you can read the Victoria 3 Dev Diary.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II

Call of Duty is a franchise that needs no introduction. The series has sold over 425 million copies worldwide, and such a number speaks for itself. Consequently, COD: Modern Warfare II could be the most significant release of October or even the entire year. Interestingly, there could be some confusion regarding the title, as there is already a game called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. It was released way back in 2009. This is why the new one is sometimes called Modern Warfare 2 2022.

Players had a chance to try out Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II during September’s open beta test. The full game will be released on October 28, 2022. The new CoD is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
