Ambientato nell'America rurale moderna e dopo i drammatici eventi di Resident Evil 6, i giocatori sperimentano il terrore direttamente dalla prospettiva in prima persona. Resident Evil 7 incarna gli elementi di gioco caratteristici della serie, ovvero l'esplorazione e l'atmosfera tesa, che per primi coniarono il termine "survival horror" circa vent'anni fa; nel frattempo, un aggiornamento completo dei sistemi di gioco spinge contemporaneamente l'esperienza survival horror a un livello superiore.

- A genuinely terrifying game, the game puts you in a tense state straight from the get go. The first person was admittedly a gamble however, I felt it paid off substantially well. It's very reminiscent of the first few resi games i.e.; item management, complex puzzles and a lot of backtracking but now, you're burdened with the dread of the family members chasing you which totally enhances the scare factor. The game itself doesn't use jump scares often rather, the morbid atmosphere and sounds are what make up the tension of the game. I had to pause the game at times just to take in on what just happened! or even just the atmosphere was too much. <br /><br />this is the game of the year for me atleast

You explore a mansion, similar to the first game, but with a mix of Texas Chainsaw Massacre craziness mixed in. It has great atmosphere and character, actually really creepy game. And once you start unlocking some weapon, the gameplay (although now first person) is actually in a similar nature to the original games of item management and puzzles mixed in. Highly recommended!
