Xbox Game Studios teased the new Forza Motorsport installment a while ago, but it hasn’t disclosed any details on the game for a long time. Fortunately, the time of uncertainty is over, and we can finally discuss the new Forza features as well as its release date.
The Motorsport reboot
Forza is a name that makes every racing game fan’s heart run faster. This widely renowned franchise is divided into two subseries: Forza Motorsport, developed by Turn 10 Studios, and Forza Horizon, brought to life by Playground Games. Unlike its sister series, Forza Motorsport focuses on professional-style track racing. Its first installment, called simply Forza Motorsports, was released in 2005. New sequels hit the shelves every two years, culminating in the release of Forza Motorsport 7 in 2017.
During the Xbox Showcase in 2020, Turn 10 Studios revealed that there wouldn’t be Forza Motorsport 8. The developer has decided to reboot the series instead and call the upcoming installment Forza Horizon. As a result, it’s sometimes called Forza Motorsports (2023) to avoid confusion with the first game in the series.
Release date and platforms
Initially, Turn 10 Studios planned to release the game in the spring of 2023 but later pushed the premiere date to the fall. Consequently, the new Forza Horizon should hit the shelves on October 10, 2023. The game will come out on two platforms: Windows PC and Xbox Series X|S. Moreover, many players should be pleased to hear that the game will be available in Game Pass from day one.

Visuals
From the early announcements, the developers have been promising that they would deliver a game that makes good use of the capabilities of the new Xbox consoles. Hence, players will enjoy features such as ray tracing, HDR (High Dynamic Range), and 4K (ultra HD) resolution.
People from Turn 10 Studios are boasting about the game’s graphics in all press releases and advertisements. We must admit that the details shown in in-game footage, such as extremely detailed car damage, reflections of cars in other cars, or even rides reflecting their own mirrors, look astonishing. Moreover, according to the devs, tracks and their surroundings are buzzing with life, while thousands of fully animated spectators and dynamic weather make no two laps feel and look the same. However, it’s still a mystery what beast of a PC we will need to unleash Forza Motorsport’s full visual potential while getting a stable 60 FPS.
Gameplay
Xbox Game Studios advertises Forza Motorsport (2023) as the most accessible installment of the series, and it has some solid arguments to back this statement. First and foremost, players can change the opponent’s difficulty level while competing against AI to adjust the challenge to their skills and preferences. Furthermore, Forza Motorsport offers a wide range of accessibility options, including world colorblindness filters, dynamic audio description, a screen narrator, one-touch driving, and even blind driving assists that let blind and low-vision players have fun with the new Forza.

Cars
A roster of playable rides is the heart of every racing game. Forza Motorsport looks nothing short of impressive in this department, as it features over500 licensed cars from all eras of racing. You will have a chance to drive motorsport icons from renowned manufacturers, including Acura, Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Dodge, Ferrari, Ford, Jaguar, Koenigsegg, Lamborghini, Lotus, Mazda, McLaren, Mercedes, Nissan, Peugeot, Porsche, Toyota, and many more.
Tracks
The Forza Motorsport series has accustomed players to letting them compete in both purely fictional and carefully recreated well-known locations. The 2023 installment is not going to change this course. It should allow us to race on 20 tracks at launch, including five new to the series. As of now, there are more than a dozen confirmed tracks:
- Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya,
- Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps,
- Hakone Circuit,
- Indianapolis Motor Speedway,
- Kyalami,
- Laguna Seca Raceway,
- Le Mans,
- Maple Valley,
- Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course,
- Silverstone,
- Suzuka,
- Virginia International Raceway.

Game modes
As anyone could suppose, Forza Motorsport offers both multiplayer and solo game modes. When it comes to single-player, the career mode is called Builders Cup and puts emphasis on building and tuning cars. You will have access to hundreds of parts that will let you enhance your car’s performance. As the game progresses, you will unlock more and more upgrades.
