Narcos Rise of the Cartels effectively brings to life the brutal action Netflix series into an action-based video game.
Main Premise
The players get a taste of both sides of the story and get to choose who we play for. We either fight with the DEA to take down the Narcos, or side with the Narcos to combat the DEA and expand the drug empire. To complete the game, we need to complete missions to keep the storyline going.

Narcos Versus DEA
Narcos Rise of the Cartels appears to be the average fighting, gun blazing style game, where we assassinate and protect. Right off the bat, we are given missions to complete. If you play for the DEA, you will be asked to complete objectives like saving a hostage, arresting a gang member, and obtaining evidence. If you play for the Narcos you will have to kill and evade law enforcement. The entire game is a war to see which side wins. One could say it gets repetitive after a while. Even though we are playing different missions, we sometimes come across the same old buildings and props. Even some of the windows are un-smashable.
Turn-Based Strategy
Keep in mind that Narcos is a turn-based game, so you can only move one character on your side per turn. The game sets a specific amount of actions you can do per turn, and by the time you complete an action for one of your characters, there are no more actions available for other characters.

Story Missions
Each story mission has various side missions for you to complete. The missions vary, from defending something from your enemies to rescuing hostages and assassinating an enemy. The mission strategies are generally the same, where you alternate back and forth, taking turns completing actions.
Death is Permanent
If one of your characters falls in a completed mission, they along with their skills are gone forever. Luckily, you are given cash as you complete missions, which you can use to recruit more units. One could say the game is a little too easy and forgiving given that it doesn’t take very much for a new character to acquire the same level skill as previously fallen units.

Top Guidelines Rise of the Cartels
Use Strategy
Some missions do not require all 5 of your units to complete, so you should think it through before beginning the mission how many of your soldiers you need to make a stand.
Healing
One thing to know before playing this game is that it is important to heal all of your units before completing a mission. You can’t use wounded soldiers in the next mission, which can work against you if your most valuable and skilled units are gone.
Shotgun Units
If you are just playing the game, then it will probably take a few rounds to catch on, but shotgun guys are the most powerful units in the game and usually require only one kill shot to defeat an enemy.
