THE BEST OF 2019 – TOP 5 STRATEGY GAMES

Next installment of our TOP 5 series ( this time strategy games) where we conclude the best games of 2019.  This time we spread a map, we distribute the resources, we manage our workers, we raise and lower taxes, we create alliances – all of that to become the best and the greatest strategist of all time ( or at least of 2019)

Games are not listed in particular order. As a great and open mind, which you certainly are if you decided to check out our list,  you should try them equally and treat them as they are equally good!

Number 1

Total War: Three Kingdoms

Date of release:  23^rd of May

Definitely one of the best iteration in the history of the series.  Not only because of the well-thought and what’s most important well-executed strategical side of things, but the story and the whole setting is so complex and engaging the player to sink into the world of broken kingdoms. There are many upgrades comparing to the last installation – Thrones of Britannia – such as wholly new social and diplomatic system. Focus on the story, naturally creates the bigger impact of particular characters (11 in total) – each of them with special perks, abilities and units. Macro and micro scales of the game stay the same – but that’s what we like and knew from previous games.

Number 2

Planet Zoo

Date of release: 5^th of November

Frontier Developments with another well-received and critically acclaimed strategy. After the success of Planet Coaster they reign their supreme over at kingdom of simulation zoners. Hundreds of wild species are waiting to be put in your safe haven – the zoo. Treat them well, feed regularly, keep them safe and they will exalt your dream zoo.  Game is super well-polished, attention to the details is absurdly good. This is a must-play for every fan of any Tycoon-like games.

Number 3

Anno 1800

Date of release:  16^th of April

Another on our list of Top 5 Strategy Games of 2019 is Anno 1800, which takes place in the most revolute times of our western history when it comes to the development and progress. No other age changed our history as a society than this one. Industrialization is at its peak and there are no breaks for it. Manage your city well, set an appropriate level of taxes. Climb up through the tree of technological development. Anno 1800 is a classic experience that has been known for some time. The roots of the gameplay stays the same, but there are many new and innovative changes – like oversea territories, steam-powered possibilities or many new buildings fitted to this revolute age.

Number 4

Transport Fever 2

Date of release: 11^th of December

Create a complex, but well-working and effective communication net. Under your command there will be a whole stable of means of transport. Ranging from small cars and trucks, going by buses and trains ending in massive airplanes and ships. Create fluid routes that will bring you the most effective communication flow. Analyze data and statistic to improve even more. Urban Games has done its homework and improved a lot comparing to the first installment.

Number 5

Dawn of Man

Release date: 1^st of March

This game might have slipped under the radar. It was created by a small, independent studio – Madruga Works. Game is a combination of city-builder and real-time strategy. Set in not so commonly used period of time – the beginnings of our civilization – bronze age – Dawn of Man challenges players to manage and develop really primitive village. Technology is not here and we must do everything with bare hands. Game is a perfect example of a classic city-building game, but its unique setting should interest most of the players.
