Bloober Team – a polish studio behind games like _>Observer, Blair Witch and Layers of Fear (1 and 2) worked hard since 2012 and created The Medium: a third-person psychological horror. If we take a look at the studio’s previous projects we are sure that The Medium will be a one-in-a-milion experience that horror fans must play!
Become the medium
Only a medium can solve the dark mystery hidden deep in between the real and spirit world. In the game you’ll play as Marianne – her psychic powers will help you solve puzzles from both spiritual and real world. On your journey to find the truth you will encounter The Maw – a horrid entity created from an horrific tragedy. Use your powers to survive the encounters and uncover the mysteries.
Gameplay
The Medium is a third-person horror with a strong psychological driven storyline. The game strongly relies on trespassing both real and spiritual world. The player will actively have to choose in which world to look for hints to solve the encountered issues / puzzles. Use the Out of Body experience in order to investigate places where no mortal should visit. On your path of exploring both worlds you will not only face obstacles in form of puzzles but also face off The Maw – an otherworldly creature set to destroy the player.
Dark Reality
The game revolves around traversing both worlds. In the spirit world you will find a dark reflection of our reality, a grim and unsettling place. A place of unfinished deeds, vile intentions and evil urges prosper. The Medium’s developers were inspired by Zdzisław Beksiński’s paintings. Mr. Beksiński is a Polish surrealist known for his ominous style of painting. His art always brings brings the feeling of dread, same can be said about the The Medium’s second world.
Music
The Medium’s soundtrack perfectly fits the grim reality of the game. Composed by legendary Yamoaka and Reikowski soundtrack and sound effects will immerse you in the The Medium’s world. Yaomaka – composer of Silent Hill’s soundtrack and Reikoswki – Awards nominee for his works from the Blair Witch, Layers of Fear and Observer worked hard to give the feeling of impending doom.
