The release of each Diablo installment is an important date in almost every player’s calendar. No wonder Diablo 4 is one of the most anticipated games of 2023. Let’s check what Blizzard has prepared for us this time.
Release date
Diablo fans have been eagerly waiting for the new core installment in this iconic action RPG series. Fortunately, Diablo 4 was officially announced in November 2019 at BlizzCon. Blizzard employees initially suggested that the game would premiere in 2022; however, the exact release date was revealed during The Game Awards 2022. Diablo 4 will come out on June 6, 2023, so it will be a very busy summer for all the players who love slaying demons and collecting loot. It will be available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.

Beta
Some players don’t have to wait until June to return to the world of Sanctuary and take a glimpse of Diablo 4 thanks to beta tests run on two March weekends. The early access beta will be live on March 17-19. It will be available for players who have pre-ordered Diablo 4 or received a special access code. All fans can get a taste of Diablo 4 on March 24-31 during the open beta tests.
Early access and the beta cover the prologue and the first act of the Diablo 4 campaign. As you can see, players will have a chance to complete a solid piece of the game and decimate Lilith’s demons a lot. However, there’s a level cap, so your character can’t advance above the 25th level. Fortunately, one player can create up to 10 different characters, so after reaching the maximum cap with your first, you may start the journey with another one.
During the early access weekend, you can choose among three classes: the barbarian, rogue, and sorcerer. The druid and necromancer will join the open beta. It’s also worth mentioning that all characters used during early access and open beta will be deleted. Hence, you’ll have to start your journey from the beginning once Diablo 4 is released.

Multiplayer and cross-play
Moreover, you can fight Lilith alone or join forces with your friends, as the game offers vast multiplayer features. Diablo 4 supports cross-play and cross-progression. Thus, there are no platform boundaries. If you get tired of battling AI adversaries, you can enter PvP zones to test your abilities against other players and fight for valuable loot.
Story
The Diablo 4 story continues the events of the Diablo III: Reaper of Souls expansion. This time, players will have to face Lilith, Mephisto’s daughter, who has been summoned back to Sanctuary. According to the game’s director, Sebastian Stepien, this time, the plot is focused on the fate of the common folk of Sanctuary instead of revolving around kings and queens. For instance, you will have many opportunities to free besieged town and give it back to its rightful citizens. This way, we may get a more down-to-earth story, even though it’s set in a fantasy world filled with demons and magic.

Gameplay
Let’s make it clear, we hope, that the story will be decent, but nobody plays Diablo for its plot. The gameplay and impressive replayability value are what attract millions of fans. The new installment is not going to revolutionize the beloved Diablo formula; however, it adds new features such as an open world to explore. As a result, the core Diablo 4 gameplay resembles what we know from previous games.
Once again, we’ll have a chance to slay countless hordes of foes and defeat fearsome bosses to master your skills and get priceless loot. A higher difficulty level lets you find more powerful equipment, and more powerful equipment encourages you to try an even higher difficulty level. This way, you may complete Diablo 4 multiple times, still having fun and finding new challenges.

Classes
Similarly to its predecessors, Diablo 4 will let players choose from a variety of diverse character classes. The base game features five playable heroes.
- The barbarian may use a wide range of weapons and perform devastating moves such as slams and war cries. It’s also the strongest character.
- The druid mastered the ability of shapeshifting; therefore, he can transform himself into a bear or werewolf. Besides, the druid uses the power of storm, wind, and earth against his enemies.
- The rogue is a nimble warrior who can perform deadly combo attacks, poison her adversaries, or slay demons with shadow magic.
- The sorceress uses the elements to her advantage. Turning water into lethal javelins and summoning a rain of meteors are among her ways of dealing with foes.
- The necromancer is the class that can summon and command undead legions.
We’re sure that more classes will be added as DLCs. Especially for the Blizzard developers revealed that Diablo 4 will be monetized by selling season passes.
