One of the most iconic FPS franchises celebrated the release of CoD MW2. This signature multiplayer game is incredibly rich in content. Let’s take a look at what Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has to offer and why it’s a title worth playing.
Call of Duty redefined
Some say that each CoD game is virtually the same, but MW2 takes this franchise to the next level. The abundance of Call of Duty’s game modes makes it an ultimate shooter that will satisfy both new and veteran players. While the core gameplay feels familiar, there are plenty of new features or revamps. Infinity Ward, the studio responsible for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, did quite a great job! Weapon system
One of them concerns a new weapon system that allows us to modify weapons and attach different parts. Each element of a weapon can be switched- we can carry up to five attachments. These have a major influence on the statistics and performance of each weapon. Therefore, making a weapon that will suit our play style is easier than ever. Moreover, weapons can be tuned to personalize them even more.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 campaign
CoD story mode is a fantastic single-player experience that you can play in different difficulty modes. Although quite short, the campaign is an exciting part of the game. How long is the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 campaign? Lasting about 8 hours, the campaign brings back the fan-favorite Call of Duty characters: Captain John Price, Simon “Ghost” Riley, Johnny “Soap” MacTavish, Kyle “Gaz” Garrick, and a new hero: Alejandro Vargas. The Call of Duty voice actors did a phenomenal job, bringing these memorable characters to life once again. It’s also important to note how beautiful the in-game cinematics are. Thanks to motion capture, the cutscenes are incredibly realistic.
The missions themselves are quite varied and include stealth, open combat, using different weapons, and some dose of puzzles as well. The campaign is a great introduction to the game if you haven’t played CoD before, as it features a variety of mechanics and weapons you may use in multiplayer modes. It’s a shame that it is relatively short, but let’s not forget that Call of Duty is primarily a multiplayer experience.
The Warzone update
Call of Duty: Warzone is a battle-royale mode that is available for free. It also features the DMZ update. Both of these experiences take place in Al Mazrah, a new battle royale map for CoD MW2. So, what is the DMZ mode? It could be described as a variation of the classic battle royale mode. It’s more narrative-oriented and players have to complete missions, side objectives, and of course fight other squads of players or AI soldiers.
The main goal is to escape the map. We must admit that it’s one of the most fun aspects of the entire game, which adds a lot of variety to the battle royale genre. Call of Duty Multiplayer experience
With 12 different modes, you can be more than sure that the game offers hours of equally exciting gameplay. These modes present themselves as follows:

Call of Duty MW 2 co-op missions
One of our favorite parts of the new Call of Duty game is the cooperative PvE missions. We have access to four different scenarios we can play with a friend:
- Low Profile,
- Denied Area,
- Defender: Mt. Zaya,
- High Ground.
All these missions feature different mechanics that will test our skills and tactical approach. It’s also a fun alternative to PvP games that are equally rewarding. Even though we play against AI combatants, the mission can get pretty tough and skill-demanding.
In December, Infinity Ward introduced Raids, special 3-person co-op missions that push forward the story from the single-player campaign. These missions combine solving puzzles with combat: a mixture that works great. So far, only one raid mission has been released, but we do hope more will appear in the next seasons.
Call of Duty Battle Pass
Another revamped feature is a new Call of Duty Modern Warfare Battle pass. It gives players more freedom, as they choose which rewards they want to receive first. These include new weapons, blueprints, operator skins, emblems, calling cards, and in-game currency. We quite enjoy the idea of a non-linear battle pass introduced in the newest Call of Duty instalment.
Things we didn’t like
Whilst the general experience is great, the game has some problems with random visual glitches appearing from time to time. Although it’s not happening every game or two, sometimes they are severe enough to restart the game. We’ve also experienced some connection issues in Warzone or DMZ games.
The latter was particularly annoying, especially since random disconnections or crashes result in losing progress. The campaign, despite being diverse, was a tad too short and the story features some odd narrative choices. Pricing of new skins and bonus cosmetics can be quite off-putting as well, especially when we consider the price of the game itself.
Final Verdict
Despite some of the issues described earlier, Call of Duty Modern Warfare offers a quality experience for any fan of this genre. The number of modes is satisfying, especially since they all offer different types of gameplay. We do believe that it’s one of the best Call of Duty games!
