Balatro gameplay

Balatro card types
Unlike traditional card games, Balatro employs a resource wheel mechanic that is as dynamic as it is challenging. Balatro stands out for its unique feature of introducing special cards during gameplay:

- Tarot cards.
These cards give our decks special buffs that will help us reach the score in spectacular ways. Those modifiers include enhancements, editions, and seals. These enhancements can boost your earnings, increase your chips, boost your score, or open up opportunities to craft different types of cards. For instance, the effects of Planet Cards will last for the duration of the game, meanwhile, a Tarot Card’s effect will work only once. Both Tarot and Planet Cards are consumables and will be gone right after use.
Jokers are not included in the deck but are assigned to specific Joker slots. They possess distinctive effects that can synergize to form powerful combinations, aiding in the defeat of bosses.
Each card can alter the course of the game in a heartbeat, but don’t think that Balatro is all about luck. A strategic approach will be key to victory! Spectral Cards are the rarest in Balatro. They are strong, but they also come with certain weaknesses that can mess up your deck. Spectral Cards are all about assessing risk and experimenting with potentially harmful effects.
Other consumable items include Vouchers and Booster Packs. 32 different vouchers are available in the shop and, like Spectral Cards, offer permanent effects. Booster Packs are themed bundles of cards in five categories, all available in three sizes:
- Arcana Packs,
- Celestial Packs,
- Spectral Packs,
- Standard Packs,
- Buffon Packs.
