Are there any horse girls and equestrians among us? The Sims 4 is about to welcome the newest expansion pack. Get in your saddle and prepare yourself for your next adventure with The Sims 4 Horse Ranch
Welcome to the life of a rancher
EA has been criticized by players for cutting content into small pieces and producing way too many expansions and content packs. Even though these voices can still be heard, the announcement of The Sims 4 Horse Ranch was more than warmly welcomed. Horses were, after all, anticipated by many fans. They made their last appearance in 2011 with The Sims 3 Pets. Now they have their own expansion pack! Let’s take a moment to see what this expansion pack has to offer.

Western-themed adventure
Each expansion pack introduces a new city with unique inhabitants, stories, and features. The Sims 4 Horse Ranch is no exception. As expected, the latest expansion takes place in a Wild West setting. Players will be able to explore a new location with its own characters they’ll be able to meet and interact with. The featured trailer shows a very cozy town that looks quite different from what we’ve seen in other The Sims 4 expansions. The most notable addition will be the Equestrian Center. It’s going to be a large hub for all things equestrian, in which your Sims will be able to compete and train their horses in agility and jumping skills.

Horses, your new family members
Horses will become cherished members of your family, just like dogs and cats. In CAS mode, we can personalize every aspect of our new four-legged friends. Whether it’s their personalities, characteristics, traits, or preferences, we have a wide range of choices to make. From The Sims 4 BTS, we saw that there will be about 11 personality traits to choose from, for instance, fearful, defiant, needy, friendly, and energetic, to name a few.

In terms of looks, players have the option to choose from over 30 pre-designed breeds or create their own distinctive horses from scratch, complete with custom patterns. Additionally, the game offers a wide range of tack elements and decorations, much like what we’ve seen in The Sims 4 Cats and Dogs expansion. Expect hats, ribbons, and even unicorn horns among the abundance of items to make your horses look fantastic!
Master the art of riding
Our Sims can learn a new skill: Riding. After all, no one was born ready for Grand Prix competitions! That’s why, at the very beginning, our Sims will look rather clumsy when riding. Just remember to wear a helmet, and you’ll be fine! This will challenge your sim’s riding skills, as they must be able to stay in their saddle despite the horse’s movements. With enough practice, your Sims will become pro equestrians and make riding look effortless.

Horses will also learn new abilities and gradually improve their skills Interestingly enough, if our sim is not the best at riding, the horse will respond to that by bucking or looking uncomfortable. Our Sims will be able to build a deep connection with horses, from grooming and feeding them all the way to teaching them tricks and simply spending time with their new friends.

Interestingly, newborn foals will also have to pick up a few quite important skills. For example, they will have to learn how to walk, which will result in funny, wobbly movements and lots of adorable moments.
Not just horses
While the core gameplay of the next expansion revolves around horses, the pack has a few more things to add to the mix. Players will be able to live their dreams as ranch owners and participate in western-themed activities in a newly added town. That will mean visiting a local saloon, dancing, producing nectar, and hosting events for the locals. Another addition worth mentioning is the appearance of tiny goats.

Enthusiasts of the building mode are in for a treat with an array of new items inspired by the Wild West. From authentic fences and structures to iconic cowboy hats, a wagon, and even a cozy campfire, constructing the ultimate ranch will become a breeze.
Furthermore, the expansion delivers an assortment of new Create-A-Sim options. When crafting the perfect appearance for their Sim, players will have access to stylish horse-themed hats, vests, and a variety of other fashionable choices.
