The acclaimed first-person shooter Destiny 2 is about to celebrate the release of its new expansion pack. Let’s take a look at Destiny 2: Lightfall and what this new expansion pack has to offer: from a new campaign to a new subclass and plenty of important updates!
Neptune: your next destination
Destiny 2: Lightfall is the latest expansion pack to Bungie’s popular sci-fi shooter, Destiny 2. This new content brings with it a wealth of new content for players to explore, including a brand-new story campaign, weapons and gear, and much more.

Players will be able to join forces with their friends in intense cooperative battles against powerful enemies. With its compelling narrative and exciting gameplay elements, Destiny 2: Lightfall promises an unforgettable journey that all fans of the series can enjoy.
Campaign details
Each Destiny 2 expansion pack introduces a brand-new campaign set in the world of Destiny. This time, players will embark on an adventure on Neptune and one of its technologically advanced cities: Neomuna. It’s a beautiful, vibrant city with neon-y architecture and high technology everywhere. Since no one really knew about its existence, Neomuna managed to grow into a dazzling metropolis, protected by mysterious Cloud Striders.

What about the enemies? Our Guardians have to face Calus and his Shadow Legion. It’s a serious threat, so you’ll have to equip yourself not only with new gear but also with new abilities. You’ll be able to test these in many spectacular ways. The new campaign will feature Legendary difficulty, similar to the Destiny 2: The Witch Queen campaign.
Destiny 2 new subclass: Strand
In the newest DLC, players will gain access to Strand, a new Subclass added to Destiny 2 classes. These include:
- Berserker: a subclass for Titans,
- Threadrunner: new subclass for Hunters,
- Broodweaver: a new subclass for Warlocks.

A fun aspect of the new subclass is the new approach to acquiring it. Instead of simply getting it on day one, players will gradually discover it throughout the campaign. It’s a refreshing direction since it will take some effort and time to learn new abilities and make the process more immersive and thus enjoyable. Classes and subclasses will also receive some tweaks,
Buildcrafting Evolved
Creating loadouts in Destiny 2 is going to be completely revamped in the new expansion. Named Buildcrafting Evolved, the new system lets players create and share their custom loadouts.

With up to 10 slots, you can make a variety of builds and swap between them instantly. Thanks to this solution, players will save time and, most importantly, forget about trips to the vault each time they want to apply some changes.
Other features
Lightfall introduces a number of tweaks and changes. One of the most important ones concerns the new Ranks system that will facilitate and expand progression for both new players and Destiny 2 veterans. For instance, in order to unlock new loadout slots, players have to increase their Guardian Rank.

Moreover, players will be able to give awards to other players. Thanks to this new Commendations system, you can thank other players for their help, appreciate cooperation, skill, or anything else you find important. It’s a fantastic feature that is more and more often seen in multiplayer games: whether in MMORPGs like Final Fantasy XIV or shooters like Overwatch.
The new DLC will obviously introduce a new Raid, but Bungie didn’t share any details. This activity will be available after the release, namely on March 10, 2023. The other feature that is going to be added later is LFG Fireteam Finder, but there’s no official information about its release date.
