What to expect from Call of Duty: Black Ops 7

06 November 2025

The next game in the popular Black Ops series is coming soon. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will be released on November 14, 2025. It’s the eighth main game in the series and will mix the action you know with some new features and a thrilling story.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 gameplay

Black Ops 7 is built on the previous game, Black Ops 6, but adds some new features and changes to gameplay. You can still move in all directions, but a new “wall jump” feature lets you jump higher and find new spots on certain walls. A big change is that “Tactical Sprint” is no longer a standard move. You’ll need to choose it as a special ability (perk) for your character. This makes you think more about how you want to play. The game will have three main modes: a story mode you can play with friends (Campaign), an online player-vs-player mode (Multiplayer), and the popular Zombies mode.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 multiplayer

In multiplayer, two teams of six, “JSOC” and “The Guild,” will compete in classic game types like Team Deathmatch and Domination. The game introduces a new 20 vs 20 mode called “Skirmish” on two special maps for bigger battles. Black Ops 7 adds a new “hybrid combat specialties” system. This gives you special boosts when you mix perks from different classes: Enforcer, Recon, and Strategist. The “Overclock” system lets you add extra abilities to your gear and special rewards. For players who play a lot, the Prestige system is back. Once you hit level 55, you can reset your level to earn special rewards. You can also Prestige your weapons after you fully level them up.

Story mode

The story is set in 2035, ten years after Call of Duty: Black Ops II. You play as JSOC Commander David “Section” Mason. He and his team must investigate the surprising return of the dead terrorist Raul Menendez, who plans to destroy the world in three days.

For the first time, your progress in the story mode will be shared with Multiplayer and Zombies. This means you can level up your overall rank, weapons, and battle pass by playing the 11-mission story. You can also play the story with up to four friends. After you finish the story, you can play “Endgame,” a 32-player mode where teams must complete tasks in a city called Avalon before time runs out.

Zombies return

The popular Zombies mode is back with a big map called “Ashes of the Damned.” You’ll fight off endless waves of zombies that get harder with each round. The story continues from Black Ops 6, where the Requiem team meets different versions of classic characters like Richtofen and Dempsey in the Dark Aether.

The gameplay will be familiar to fans. You’ll collect points (Essence and Salvage) to upgrade your weapons and get perks. The “Directed” mode from the last game is back to help you through the main story quest. There will also be three new modes:

Survival: See how long you can survive on a small part of the main map.

Dead Ops Arcade 4: A new version of the arcade-style, top-down shooter.

Cursed: A harder mode with extra challenges, like no mini-map and the old-school points system.
