GAMESCOM 2024. What’s new in the gaming industry?

The biggest European festival of all things gaming launched in Cologne with a record number of exhibitors! Since GAMIVO had a chance to visit this event, we’ve had a first look at the biggest announcements from Gamescom 2024!

Borderlands 4

Borderlands 4 is happening! One of the most beloved series of looter shooters will welcome a new entry sometime in 2025. We don’t know much about what the 8th installment will be about, but we can expect lots of signature humor, high-octane action, and unforgettable characters. The trailer showcased during the Gamescom 2024 surely made fans of the series excited!

Mafia: The Old Country

Mafia: The Old Country from Hangar 13 takes us to the roots of organized crime in a tale of the mob scene entrenched in the ruthless underworld of 1900s Sicily. Players will navigate the perilous and unforgiving landscape, where survival is a constant battle, brought to vivid life through the genuine realism and compelling narrative that define the acclaimed Mafia series. The game will arrive in December 2024.

Dying Light: The Beast

Kyle Crane makes a comeback! Techland, the Polish studio, has revealed the upcoming third installment of the Dying Light series. Unfortunately, we don’t know anything about the possible release date.

Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era

Heroes of Might & Magic Olden Era introduces a new chapter in the renowned turn-based strategy series. Set in the uncharted lands of Enroth and the continent of Jadame, never before fully explored in a Heroes of Might & Magic game, players embark on a journey through a vivid fantasy realm teeming with marvels and perils. Establish grand capital cities, amass formidable armies, and engage in epic, strategic battles featuring heroes and mythical beings. The magical classic game is coming back, ensuring a great experience for both veterans of the series and newcomers.

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage

From the creators of Life is Strange, the narrative in Lost Records: Bloom & Rage unfolds in the summer of 1995. Four central characters, high school pals – Swann, Nora, Autumn, and Kat, forge a vow to guard a secret. After twenty-seven years, the protagonists reunite to unveil the concealed verity. What happens next? Your choices will shape their story. 

Genshin Impact arrives on Xbox consoles

One of the most beloved titles in recent years is making its way to Xbox Series consoles on November 20, 2024.

InZoi

Will inZoi dethrone the most-beloved life sim The Sims? During Gamescom 2024 we had a chance to see a new trailer for the hyperrealistic life sim from Krafton. Featruing an incredibly detailed character creator, InZoi feels like a game that might be a huge bestseller. Whilst we don’t know when the game will come out, players can already try the in-game character creator until August 26.

Reanimal

Reanimal, the upcoming game from Tarsier Studios, known for the popular Little Nightmares series, promises to deliver a unique gaming experience. Following the success of their previous titles, Reanimal offers both solo and co-op gameplay options. The intriguing trailer featuring a variety of eldritch monsters hints at an exciting adventure!

Marvel’s Rivals release date

NetEase Games’ much-anticipated shooter has now been given a release date. Mark your calendars for December 6, 2024, when we can finally dive into this exciting title!

Directive 8020

Directive 8020 marks the debut of the second season in The Dark Pictures Anthology series and is the fifth overall. This interactive drama survival horror video game, featuring elements of space and body horror, is currently in development by Supermassive Games. Scheduled for release in 2025, it will be available on multiple platforms including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
