FIFA 2K25: Leagues and Teams
Despite losing the FIFA partnership, EA Sports can use dozens of other licenses. As a result, EA Sports FC 24 features authentic leagues, teams, players, and many competitions, including UEFA Euro 2024. However, FIFA organizes the World Cup, the most-watched sports event in the world. Hence, FIFA 2K25 will most probably be the official World Cup 2026 video game. It can give it a significant boost.
It’s hard to predict which teams and leagues will appear in FIFA 2K25. One thing we’re rather sure about is that the upcoming game won’t feature Internazionale. The current Italy Champion has an exclusive deal with Konami, so its crest, jersey, and name can appear only in eFootball.
FIFA 2K25: Gameplay
Today, many players think of 2K and EA Sports as developers that release almost the same games every year. This harsh opinion is not unjustified. Each new NBA 2K installment offers virtually the same gameplay and content, with only slightly altered game modes. This is because the company has a proven formula that it doesn’t want to interfere with. For some, it’s stabilization, but for most, it’s stagnation and a lack of will to improve. However, I vividly remember the dawn of each great sports video game franchise. The developers were experimenting and trying out new things, so each installment was different and offered some distinctive features. For instance, FIFA RTWC 98 had indoor football, FIFA 99 was much faster and also had some unique game modes, and FIFA 2000 added classic teams. It could see the evolution.
Since FIFA 2K25 will be the first installment in a new series, there’s no previous game to duplicate. I hope 2K will try something new because copying EA Sports will lead it nowhere (or to the court). Of course, it doesn’t mean the game will be good, but at least it will be a breath of fresh air.
FIFA 2K25: Game Modes
The only certain things in this world are death, taxes, and an ultimate team mode in sports games. EA Sports has generated more profit from in-game microtransactions than from selling FIFA and EA FC. As such, the upcoming franchise will also feature a mode that lets players build a team composed of their favorite players, which they have found in card packs.
It’s safe to assume that the football game from 2K will offer similar modes to those in NBA 2K, where we may experience a career as a player, become a couch, or control the entire team.
FIFA 2K25: Release Date and Platforms
New FIFA games used to come out in the fall. EA Sports also released its FC24 in September, so we expect to get its successor no later than October. If 2K picks the same timeframe, it would be a risky but bold move. First of all, some players still call the football game from EA Sports “FIFA.” Therefore, they may buy FIFA 2K25, not realizing it’s a different game from a different developer.
