Everything that you need to know so far about Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2

09 June 2019

When Vampire: The Masquerade was first released, gamers from all over were drawn to it owing to the impressive list of characters, the captivating storyline, and the numerous incredible missions. Thankfully, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has all these and newer features to offer that will allow it to enjoy a similar cult following as the previous iteration. If you are looking forward to playing Bloodlines 2, here is everything that you need to know so far:

A darker version of the storyline

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will feature a much darker storyline compared to the original. In Bloodlines 2, the setting changes from the city of Lost Angeles to Seattle in the Pacific Northwest. In this setting, the vampire community is fragmented with a few of the more powerful factions fighting to take control simultaneously.

When the game begins, your character will be caught up in the chaos with several vampires abducting and forcibly turning humans into vampires, which is prohibited unless permission is given by the city’s clan leader or Primogen or the prince. Any vampire that is caught forcibly turning humans is killed along with their child.

Unlike the previous version, the Camarilla does not have as much power to keep things in the city running in order. As a matter of fact, most members of the Camarilla are away as a result of the beckoning, which has left many cities ungoverned. As such, most of the cities are characterized by warfare from rivals and opposing factions. Prime cities such as Seattle can be overtaken and ruled even by a newly formed vampire.

The duration of the campaign

If you have played Bloodlines 1 before, it should not take you long to acquit yourself with the specifics of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. A single playthrough can last between 25 and 30 hours, depending on how good your playstyle is. If you go through the primary questline without any speed running, it is entirely possible to attain your first round of non-thin blood powers within the first 5 hours or so of playing.

Like the original, you should expect a branching narrative as well as numerous side quests so you are encouraged to make many playthroughs. Since we are still dealing with vampires, the game will be set at night for the entire duration.
