Fans of the Diablo franchise will have to wait a long time for the next game in the series. Blizzard Entertainment revealed the title at BlizzCon 2019, but has since confirmed that it has no plans to release the game in 2021, while hinting that 2022 will be a big year for Blizzard
Blizzard announced that a virtual BlizzCon 21 will be held Feb. 19-20, at which time new class reveals are expected to be forthcoming. Diablo aficionados should bear in mind that even the little that’s known could change given the length of time until the title’s official release.
The title is being developed for PC, PS4 and Xbox One and since Sony has since launched the PS5 and Xbox Series X, there’s a strong possibility that the game will also be available for those consoles, too.

It’s been rumored that a remake – Diablo 2: Resurrected – could also be in the works. If so, it could provide Blizzard with additional time to produce Diablo 4 and perhaps satisfy gamers until the newest installment comes out.
Diablo 4 will focus on Lilith, daughter of Mephisto, and is a return to a darker style. It features an open world map that enables gamers to explore to their heart’s content. Campaigns are non-linear and the RPG will have PvP zones in the overworld. Micro-transactions will be available, but will be for cosmetic items only. Dungeons will be randomly generated.
The game will be moving away from conversation panes and more toward camera angles. Real- time cut scenes will be employed and individuals can delve into events, quests and crafts. When camps are cleared of enemies, they become safe havens for the player and each camp will have its own backstory.
Players will have the ability to ride horses this time around. Three new stats have been added – Angelic Power, Demonic Power, and Ancestral Power – each of which will have its own unique effects.
There will be five customizable classes from which to choose. Three of those have already been announced – Barbarian, Druid and Sorceress. There’s also plans to place more power in the characters and their decisions rather than relying on legendary items and those with which players have equipped themselves.
Skills and talents will also see changes from previous versions. Each character will contain powerful passive effects, while skill trees will contain a variety of upgrades. As players accrue skill points, they can spend them for unlocking new skills on the upper tree, while passive points will be spent on the lower tree. Gamers can build out different nodes to create very distinct characters.
Individuals will have the option of playing solo, while still being able to participate in events. No one will be required to join a group, but can do so if they desire. Inventory management will be more natural in nature and two-player co-op will be improved. Gamers will encounter a new enemy in the form of cannibal tribes, with members being quite quick. Enemies will come in
“families” and gamers must be online to play.
Individuals will have the option of placing a skill in an active slot and a special slot unique to each character. The mechanic will result in a skill being unavailable in the traditional manner, but will award a unique bonus power. The end game progression will supposedly be a significant source of power that comes from the class chosen.
