For several years, the genre seemed to fall out of favor for everyone but the most diehard enthusiasts. In 2020, gamers had multiple titles from which to choose. The following are just a few of the best fighting games for 2020 in no particular order.

Dead or Alive 6

The game combines strategy with fighting and it’s just plain fun to play. Players of the title’s previous releases in the series will be familiar with the games Danger Zones and Triangle System that’s also entertaining.

Dragon Ball FighterZ Season 3

Dragon Ball FighterZ Season 3 enables 3v3 battles with fun tag team maneuvers. The visuals have a hand-drawn appearance that has worked to make the title a standout.

Mordhau

Hack and slash goes old school in medieval times in battles ranging from small dust-ups to full scale free-for-alls that will accommodate 64 players. Players can develop their own fighting styles in multiple modes and it has customization options.

Override: Mech City Brawl

The 3D arena lets players pilot their very own giant mech as one of 12 characters that can be customized with different skins and accessories. The arenas are modeled on real-life venues from around the globe.

Stick Fight

The name says it all, but don’t underestimate it by judging the minimalist visuals. Players have an extensive range of weapons to use as they battle deadly environments through 100 levels.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Featuring 75 playable characters and multiple stages, individuals can battle in low-stakes matches or activate environmental hazard mode for chaotic melees. Players can also issue challenges to other players.

Tekken 7

Even though the series has been around for years, the latest incarnation still provides an experience that feels new and exciting.

Coming Soon…

Gamers will also have some new titles coming in 2021. They include Die by the Blade and Metal Revolution where fighting takes place on the ground, along with Valkyrie of Phantasm where the focus is on aerial combat.
