The Best PC Games of 2026 So Far

31 July 2026

The first seven months of 2026 have been an absolute feast for PC gamers. From hyper-stylized arcade surprises to deeply emotional visual novels and big-budget survival horror, the PC platform continues to be the ultimate home for variety. Here are the top-rated PC games released in 2026 (so far). I’m positive you’ll find some indie gems you didn’t know existed.

Table of Contents:

Cairn

  • The Game Bakers
  • Release date: January 29, 2026
  • Metascore (PC): 86

A relentless survival climbing simulator that treats mountain scaling with the tactical intensity of a combat encounter. Controlling climber Aava on Mount Kami, players must manually position each hand and foot, manage pitons and chalk, and survive harsh atmospheric weather. It’s tense, tactile, and uncompromisingly difficult, making every single meter gained feel like a genuine, hard-earned victory.

Mewgenics

  • Edmund McMillen, Tyler Glaiel
  • Release date: February 10, 2026
  • Metascore (PC): 88

Combining turn-based tactical combat with an insanely complex feline breeding simulator, this roguelike strategy game offers near-infinite depth. Players crossbreed generations of cats to inherit specific genetic mutations, abilities, and classes before sending their absurd feline squads into tactical grid battles. After years in development, Edmund McMillen delivered a delightfully unhinged title where pitch-black humor, incredible music, and punishing strategy create an addictively chaotic loop.

Resident Evil Requiem

  • Capcom
  • Release date: February 26, 2026
  • Metascore (PC): 92

The game I had been eagerly waiting for hasn’t disappointed. Capcom’s latest survival horror masterpiece features a dual-protagonist structure, splitting time between veteran Leon S. Kennedy and rookie operative Grace Ashcroft. The gameplay masterfully contrasts claustrophobic resource management during Grace’s segments with explosive over-the-shoulder action when playing as Leon. The RE Engine’s lighting creates pure nightmare fuel, and the clever pacing ensures that you never quite feel safe, even when packing heavy firepower.

Slay the Spire 2

  • Mega Crit
  • Release date: March 5, 2026
  • Metascore (PC): 89

The undisputed titan of the roguelike deck-builder subgenre returned in Early Access with a complete engine rebuild in Godot and game-changing new systems. Alongside fresh character classes like the soul-harvesting Necrobinder and star-weaving Regent, the sequel introduces a hilarious, chaotic 4-player co-op mode. Experimenting with card enchantments and draft synergies with friends breathes whole new life into the formula, proving once again that Mega Crit knows how to make digital card play utterly addictive.

Slay the Spire 2 features new cards and characters
  • Kojima Productions / 505 Games
  • Release date: March 19, 2026
  • Metascore (PC): 91

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach

Hideo Kojima’s signature strand-type open-world adventure returns with a story that boldly challenges the legacy of Sam’s past achievements. Coaxed out of self-imposed isolation by Fragile, Sam joins a private organization called Drawbridge to forge connections far beyond the borders of the UCA. Without spoiling its narrative twists, the plot tackles a fascinating central theme: asking whether binding humanity together truly saved the world, or merely set the stage for a new kind of catastrophe.

Pragmata

  • Capcom
  • Release date: April 17, 2026
  • Metascore (PC): 88

Capcom’s long-awaited sci-fi action-adventure places players in the boots of astronaut Hugh Williams alongside Diana, an enigmatic android girl, on a hostile lunar research base. Gameplay blends third-person gunplay with gravity-manipulating hacks, requiring you to alter local physics grids to solve environmental puzzles and disable rogue AI defense systems. The partner synergy between Hugh’s heavy weaponry and Diana’s hacking capabilities gives battles a unique tactical rhythm, while the RE Engine’s path-traced lighting makes the lunar surface look breathtakingly real.

Forza Horizon 6

  • Playground Games / Xbox Game Studios
  • Release date: May 19, 2026
  • Metascore (PC): 90

Relocating the legendary Horizon Festival to Japan, this open-world arcade racer delivers an incredible mix of neon-drenched Tokyo highways and treacherous mountain pass drifts. You can collect hundreds of cars while engaging in dynamic seasonal events that change road handling on the fly. I was initially curious if Playground Games could top their previous settings, but this rendition of Japan feels tailor-made for high-speed exploration and offers the most polished progression loop the series has ever seen. And I can’t complain about another game set in Japan.

Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight

  • Traveller’s Tales / Warner Bros. Games
  • Release date: May 22, 2026
  • Metascore (PC): 84

Legacy of the Dark Knight moves away from bloated character rosters. Instead, it offers only seven playable heroes (Batman, Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Jim Gordon, Catwoman, and Talia al Ghul), each with unique abilities. The story reimagines Bruce Wayne’s entire arc, loosely based on different Batman movies and shows. I particularly loved the Batman: The Animated Series opening recreated with LEGO bricks. Combining LEGO with exploration and combat inspired by the Arkham series resulted in incredibly entertaining gameplay and a joyous love letter to Batman lore. Great game for Dark Knight fans of all ages.

007 First Light

  • IO Interactive
  • Release date: May 27, 2026
  • Metascore (PC): 84

Crafted by the people behind the Hitman series, this origin-focused stealth-action adventure casts players as a young James Bond earning his license to kill. Grounded in IO Interactive’s Glacier Engine, missions play out across intricate sandbox venues where social stealth, disguises, and clever gadgetry take center stage. The choice to let players smoothly pivot from silent ghost-style infiltration to adrenaline-fueled cover gunplay gives every assignment phenomenal replay value. It’s finally a James Bond game that leaves players stirred, not shaken.

Schrödinger’s Call

  • Acrobatic Chirimenjako / Playism
  • Release date: May 28, 2026
  • Metascore (PC): 89

This hauntingly beautiful psychological narrative adventure asks what you would say to someone during the end of the world. Gameplay revolves around a retro rotary telephone interface, where dialing different numbers unlocks intimate conversations that shape the fates of isolated strangers. It is rare for a visual novel to catch me so completely off guard, but its striking picture-book visual direction and tear-jerking writing make it one of the most memorable emotional experiences of the decade.

Mina the Hollower

  • Yacht Club Games
  • Release date: May 29, 2026
  • Metascore (PC): 90

The creators of Shovel Knight returned with a top-down retro action-adventure that channels classic Game Boy Color aesthetics alongside modern, fast-paced combat mechanics. You follow Mina, utilizing a signature burrowing mechanic to slip underneath hazards, outmaneuver terrifying bosses, and strike back with a vast arsenal of sidearms. What really blew me away is how Yacht Club Games blended cozy nostalgic visuals with brutal, Souls-inspired boss patterns that reward strict mechanical precision.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced

  • Ubisoft Montreal / Ubisoft
  • Release date: July 9, 2026
  • Metascore (PC): 84

Players who had doubted whether Ubisoft could successfully remake one of its best games can breathe a sigh of relief. The new version of the fan-favorite pirate action-adventure completely rebuilds the 18th-century West Indies in current-gen detail. It offers a gorgeous visual overhaul, modernized gameplay, and refined broadside naval combat, making captaining the Jackdaw feel more immersive than ever. What makes Resynced truly stand out is how seamlessly it transitions between storm-tossed open-sea ship battles and stealthy tropical island espionage without loading screens. I still just don’t know why it’s called Resynced instead of Remake.

Denshattack!

  • Undercoders / Fireshine Games
  • Release date: July 15, 2026
  • Metascore (PC): 88

This utterly wild arcade action trick-skater tasks us with pulling off gravity-defying tricks on custom train carts to dismantle an evil megacorporation. You grind rails, flip over volcanic craters, and build massive trick multipliers to a high-energy soundtrack inspired by SEGA classics. It sounds absurd on paper, but the sheer fluidity of the controls and the pure, unadulterated joy of mastering its movement physics make it the sleeper hit of the summer.
