Vampire: The Masquerade – a first look

For the experienced player, most of you will be familiar with the backstory of Troika, which was made from the main members of the Black Isle community who were responsible for the “Fallout”. From there, you would have gone through to “Arcanum” which was a letdown as it didn’t look as good and had a slow storyline, but with a rewarding end. “Temple of Elemental Evil” was rushed out of the printing press a bit too early, and this brings us to “Bloodlines”, which isn’t as anticipated because of this fact. But this is pretty unfortunate as this is a truly amazing game set in a rich environment and is a very strong role-playing game.

This game is set up in Wolf’s Vampire: the masquerade universe, in which mythological creatures such as vampires, werewolves, and demons, are subdued and not visible to the naked eye. These creatures are the reason for the history of the world and are the movers and the shakers the world. When you first enter the game, you enter as a member of the Camarilla, which is made up of half of the 13 clans which are said to have descended from Cain. This story is epic in its nature and there is a complex back story that needs to be properly understood by the prospective player if one is to enjoy this game in all of its stunning glory, but the game does a fantastic job of easing you into the story and helping you understand the story. One good aspect of the game is that you will see short loading screens with tons of information in them that give you interesting information about the game so that you can get caught up. Also when you talk to the other characters in the game, you will get more insight into the background of the game – or you can just get in and do whatever you want to do, your choice, and it is in this that the beauty of this game lies.

When you start killing beasts, you get experience, and you can also complete a lot of quests for the same. This game is so huge that you will not get good at everything you do, but you will definitely learn a lot and have a lot of time to get your characters developed to where you need them to be.

All of this is good, but the graphics do matter as well. Right? This game utilizes the source engine from Valve Software, which gives you crazy lighting, shading and other modern effects that will raise the hair from your back in certain situations. This game looks absolutely realistic and amazing. The sound as well is pretty life-like, and the dialogues have been really honed in on. This is a very strong game, and more so when compared to the previous installments of this series and is a must-play for any serious gamer.
