The release of the newest Call of Duty installment is nearly upon us, with the scheduled date of October 25, so it’s high time to gather all the information we’ve got so far in one place. With the immense popularity of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare from 2007, and the following parts, questions are raised whether this new game will be able to meet the expectations of fans. So let’s delve deeper into the subject to find out what the new creation from Activision and Infinity Ward has in store for us.
Is it a remake?
The Modern Warfare sub-series of Call of Duty franchise was the first to break out from the WWII setting and invite the players to set their feet on the modern battlefield. And even though you can expect to see the return of well-known characters like Captain Price in this year’s edition, the premise of the game is said to be a new one and not simply a renewed narrative from a few years back. So while it’s safe to say that we’ll get a gripping storyline that will fit in nicely the whole feel of the series, it’ll be something we haven’t seen yet. But what we know for sure is that for both a single-player and a multiplayer – the story will be rooted in realistic approach and tactical problems, which will require making some difficult choices along the way.

What’s new?
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be the sixteenth addition to the series, but at the same time it’ll be the first one without the usual season pass. And this means that getting free post-launch content will be possible for all the players. Another news is the enabling of cross-platform play, the first in history for Call of Duty, which is expected to bring the whole community of players closer together.
Single Player
After the bitter disappointment all the fans of single-player games had to endure with the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, the newest installment will see the return of the single-player campaign. You’ll find yourself completing different missions across a number of European and Middle Eastern cities, where your performance will be judged based on the so-called threat assessment scoring system. In short, it concerns the number of civilians you injure. And you can also expect to see the influence of your tactical decisions on the storyline.
Multiplayer
The developers are looking to make the game’s multiplayer even more exciting to play by including a more realistic approach. They aim to bring some authenticity to the table by introducing tactical elements with map exploration, bullet penetration, and night vision goggles to enhance the gaming experience. Plus, you can expect new modes from close combat options, to the Ground War where up to 100 players can battle at once. Another new development, which is set to make all the fans thrilled, is gaining more options for customizing your weapons accordingly with your needs.
When can you play?
Even though the official release is scheduled for October 25 with only a little over a month in front of us, there’s no need to wait all this time to get a taste of what’s to come. The PS4 players will be the first ones to enjoy this new installment with the pre-order beta (12-13 September) and open beta (14-16 September). While the PC and Xbox One players will have to wait a few days longer for their chance (pre-order beta – 19-20 September and open beta on 21-23 September).
