Everything You Should Know About the Final Fantasy VIII Remaster

14 July 2019

Finally, Final Fantasy 8 will be remastered to suit modern platforms. During its E3 2019 press conference, Square Enix confirmed that it will be remastered to suit Xbox One, Steam, and PS4. The PC version was re-released to the public back in 2013 and though the original release back in 1999 was received well, the capacity for gamers to play Final Fantasy 8 alongside its delightful Triple Triad card mini-game on additional platforms is something that fans of the game will truly appreciate. So, here is everything that you should know about the Final Fantasy 8 remaster:

Final Fantasy VIII

The release date

Final Fantasy 8 follows a group of students at a top military school with a character called Squall Leonhart being the protagonist. This group of students becomes occupied in a long conflict with an evil witch attempting to control time.

The remaster will be available sometime this year, although the exact release date has not yet been revealed. Even though Square Enix has released almost all its primary series for the Switch, Final Fantasy 8 is a component that has long been absent.

New updates and features

Like previous Final Fantasy VII and FF IX Remasters, Final Fantasy 8 will come with a triple-speed option, as well as battle enhancements designed to make challenges easier. There will also be an option to disable random enemy attacks and encounters. The PC version will also include extra features including an option to acquire special moves and abilities, as well as Triple Triad cards.

Gameplay

Like most of the earlier installations, Final Fantasy 8 will utilize the traditional JRPG turn-based system. This means that gamers can control up to 3 characters at any given time. Because the game is turn-based, gamers will have the ability to act strategically while making full use of their character’s special abilities.

Final Fantasy VIII

All players and combatants have a meter that is used in determining the order. However, because Final Fantasy is an RPG, one’s meter stats can always be upgraded or tweaked to suit one’s situation. Players will be exposed to numerous random encounters especially in the open world areas of the game.

There will also be a side game known as Triple Triad, which is a card game that will help you collect items through refining cards. When the Triple Triad is added to the already complex storyline, it will leave gamers with hours upon hours of content and challenges to consume and explore. At a minimum , gamers should expect to play for approximately 60 hours and more.
