WWE 2k20: Top Tips to Become King of the Ring

14 August 2020

The WWE 2k series has been a mainstay representation of the professional wrestling scene within the gaming space. As such, it’s always blurred the lines between being a sports simulator and an arcade fighting game. WWE 2020 carries on that legacy while at the same time introducing some new elements to the foray. Whether you’re brand new to the series or a seasoned veteran, you’ll want to hit the ring floor running. Here are the top tips to help you become the toughest pro wrestler around in WWE 2020.

Get Used to WWE 2020’s New Controller Layout

A downside of WWE 2020 is that it has a new control layout and it can’t be changed. New players will probably not have an issue with this as they’re starting fresh. If you’ve been playing the WWE series for a while, though, you’ll need to adjust to the new button scheme. Head over to Options and select Controls. Here you’ll not only get a look at the new layout but also a quick overview of WWE 2020’s basic and advanced techniques.

Change the Targetting Settings

The game originally launched with a few bugs in its targeting system which has now been fixed thanks to a recent patch. The smart auto-targeting settings, however, can make your life quite miserable when fighting multiple wrestlers. Head over to WWE 2020’s Options and set all targeting options to Manual. This way you’ll be able to select who you are focusing on during a match rather than the game dictating based on proximity.

Make Your Life as a Heel Easier

Being the villain (also known as a heel) in professional wrestling matches is one of the most fun aspects of the show. WWE 2020’s default settings don’t give you much time to break the rules, though, as the referee doesn’t stay down for too long. You can adjust this in the Options by changing the referee’s slider to 100. This will give you ample time to pick up a chair or other weapon while the referee is still recovering.

Customize you Wrestling Experience

WWE 2020 has a number of Balancing options that you can take advantage of to make the experience closer to the real thing. For starters, you can adjust the AI’s ability to reversal more often by adjusting the relevant sliders. This way, you can replicate the same action-feel you get from real-life matches. You’ll also want to deal with the AI’s unrealistic ability to dish out finishers and special moves like they’re a god. For these options, recommend setting the sliders to 80.

Set The Right Amount of Stamina

While WWE 2020’s stamina bar feature was a welcome addition, it does tend to make the player character struggle at its default setting. Head over to your Balancing menus and set that slider to 65 to make stamina recovery that much more palatable. This way, you won’t be as susceptible to the AI’s tendency to go for submissions.
