Gamescom 2026: Every Major Announcement

Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 has wrapped up, delivering roughly two hours of trailers, reveals, release-date announcements, and fresh looks at some of the year’s most anticipated games. Hosted by Geoff Keighley, the showcase covered everything from massive RPGs and horror adventures to multiplayer shooters, strategy games, and some decidedly unusual projects.

If you missed the livestream, here’s a rundown of the biggest announcements from the event, along with their currently announced release windows.

Nodusfall

Hoyoverse, the studio behind Genshin Impact, surprised viewers with Nodusfall, a cooperative fantasy action game that immediately drew comparisons to Elden Ring thanks to its dark fantasy presentation and imposing environments.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Tactics

Ubisoft revealed Rainbow Six Tactics, a turn-based strategy spin on the popular Rainbow Six universe. The project comes from developers with experience on Mario + Rabbids and Ghost Recon.

Players will command familiar Rainbow Six: Siege operators through tactical single-player missions.

Gears of War: E-Day

A new story-focused trailer for Gears of War: E-Day put the spotlight on the game’s narrative while still offering plenty of glimpses at its signature brutal combat and cover-based shooting.

Ananta

Previously known online as “anime Grand Theft Auto,” Ananta returned with an extensive look at its open-world setting and story. The trailer follows the game’s protagonist as they attempt to rebuild a struggling peacekeeping organization by becoming a major influencer.

Naturally, the plan involves plenty of chaos across the game’s sprawling urban environment.

PUBG DED.NET

A brand-new first-person multiplayer shooter set in the PUBG universe made its world premiere during the show. PUBG DED.NET takes players back to the 1990s while incorporating roguelike, run-based progression.

Tides of Annihilation

The latest trailer for Tides of Annihilation introduced a new voice for protagonist Gwendoline. Angela Sant’Albano, known for playing Grace Ashcroft in Resident Evil Requiem, has taken over the role from Jennifer English.

The Arthurian-inspired action game continues to impress with its stylish combat and dramatic fantasy world.

Lofsöng

A new trailer offered another look at Lofsöng, a visually distinctive puzzle adventure featuring a young protagonist and a mysterious companion capable of transforming into different origami shapes.

Mega Man: Dual Override

Capcom used the showcase to reveal Twinkle Girl, the first Robot Master announced for Mega Man: Dual Override. The trailer also included a tease suggesting that Proto Man could be making a return.

Silent Hill: Townfall

Konami showed off another glimpse of Silent Hill: Townfall, the upcoming first-person entry being developed by the team behind Stories Untold and Observation. The latest footage focused on the game’s voice cast.

Rayman Legends Retold

The upcoming remake of Rayman Legends received another trailer, this time revealing a new musical stage based around Los Del Rio’s iconic “Macarena.”

Game of Thrones: War for Westeros

Fans of Westeros finally got their first substantial look at gameplay from Game of Thrones: War for Westeros. The project is shaping up to be a large-scale real-time strategy experience.

Dust: Origins

Airship Syndicate unveiled Dust: Origins, an isometric horror shooter set inside a doomed orbital prison. The studio is known for games including Wayfinder, Darksiders Genesis, and Battle Chasers: Nightwar.

Exodus

A new Exodus trailer introduced Salt, a rather unusual companion: a talking octopus who operates a mech suit. The character joins the cast of this ambitious sci-fi RPG, which takes inspiration from games such as Mass Effect.

Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons

More than eight minutes of gameplay were shown for Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons, a third-person action game combining dark fantasy with the legendary tabletop RPG setting.

Metro 2039

The next major installment in the Metro franchise received a new trailer showcasing both gameplay and the bleak storytelling fans have come to expect from the series.

Mewgenics console edition

After arriving on PC earlier this year, Mewgenics is expanding to consoles. The cat-breeding tactical game from the creators of The Binding of Isaac is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. The showcase also featured a live performance of “Guillotina” from the game.

Hitman: World of Assassination – The Herbalist

Agent 47’s next celebrity target is none other than Snoop Dogg. The rapper plays Dr. Syrus Cane, a marijuana mogul who becomes the latest Elusive Target in Hitman: World of Assassination.

The limited-time mission runs from August 27 through September 26.

Stage Tour

Stage Tour aims to give plastic music-game controllers another reason to come out of storage. Inspired by the Rock Band formula, the game brings rhythm-based multiplayer action to modern platforms.

Genigods: Nezha

Chinese mythology takes center stage in Genigods: Nezha, an action RPG starring the Spirit Pearl. Created by a goddess and reincarnated as the legendary deity Nezha, the protagonist gradually transforms from a human vessel into a powerful celestial warrior.

Crazy Taxi: World Tour

Sega provided the first proper look at multiplayer gameplay in Crazy Taxi: World Tour, bringing the chaotic driving series into a new era.

Turok: Origins

A new story trailer for Turok: Origins revealed more about the upcoming cooperative shooter. The game supports up to three players as they take on a dangerous world filled with prehistoric threats.

Gravhounds

Four-player cooperative action meets base building in Gravhounds. Players take on the roles of anthropomorphic dogs searching for their way home while defending bases, gathering resources, and fighting enemies.

Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake

The beloved 1999 strategy classic Heroes of Might and Magic III is getting a full remake. The new version will also include the game’s two original expansions.

Zoopunk

Another talking-animal adventure appeared during the showcase with Zoopunk, a new action game set in the same universe as F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch.

No Law

The cyberpunk FPS No Law returned with a stylish new trailer packed with fast-paced shooting and explosive action.

There Are No Ghosts at the Grand

Still one of the strangest games in the showcase, There Are No Ghosts at the Grand combines Lovecraftian horror, supernatural comedy, music, and hotel renovation.

Players restore an English hotel during the day before dealing with its ghostly inhabitants after dark. A new overview trailer provided a better explanation of how all these bizarre ideas fit together.

Like or Die

Formerly known as Project Bonfire, Like or Die made its world premiere under its new name. The team-based survival FPS puts 16 streamers into four competing squads, with players broadcasting their matches while fighting to survive.

Showa American Story

Showa American Story takes place in an alternate reality where Japan has colonized the United States. Players follow a teenage girl who has been resurrected in the middle of a zombie outbreak.

The third-person action game mixes katana combat and gunplay with increasingly bizarre weapons, including a massive drill.

Lego Skylines

City-building fans are getting a Lego take on the genre with Lego Skylines. The project is being developed by former Cities: Skylines II designers and lets players create colorful brick-based cities from scratch.

Path of Exile 2

After nearly two years in Early Access, Path of Exile 2 is finally preparing for its full 1.0 launch. Grinding Gear Games confirmed that the free-to-play action RPG will officially launch on December 11.

Pony Island 2: Panda Circus

Daniel Mullins, the creator of Pony Island and Inscryption, is back with another wonderfully bizarre game. Pony Island 2: Panda Circus blends 2D and 3D gameplay with live-action sequences and plenty of the surreal humor expected from Mullins.

Ontos

Frictional Games offered the first substantial gameplay footage from Ontos, its spiritual successor to Soma. Given the studio’s history with Amnesia, the new horror title looks set to deliver disturbing imagery, unsettling environments, and plenty of puzzle-solving.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation

Director Naoki Hamaguchi appeared during the event to showcase a new trailer for Final Fantasy VII Revelation. The footage placed particular emphasis on the Weapons—massive, godlike entities connected to the planet.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past

CD Projekt Red unveiled a new trailer for Songs of the Past, an upcoming expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The additional story is expected to help establish elements that could eventually become important to The Witcher IV.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered

One of the biggest surprises of the presentation was the announcement of a major remaster for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

The updated version features upgraded visuals, improved combat, revamped movement and animations, ray tracing, and support for cross-platform mods. Both Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine are included.

Best of all, existing owners of The Witcher 3 will receive the remaster as a free upgrade, although the Nintendo Switch version appears to be excluded.

A Showcase Packed With Surprises

Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 proved to be an unusually busy showcase, with announcements spanning major franchises, unexpected new IPs, remakes, expansions, and experimental indie projects.

With several of the games revealed or updated during the event targeting 2027, the next year is already shaping up to be an especially crowded one for gamers. From Gears of War and The Witcher to Silent Hill, Mega Man, Metro, and a whole collection of stranger new ideas, there was something for almost every type of player.
